I read this at age 14 approx., along with "Moon The Loon" by Dougal Butler, which is a similar book to the Spanish Tony one.
Stonestruck; Philippa Pearce has written a lovely time travel book: Tom's Midnight Garden; I think you might enjoy Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising sequence very much: Over Sea, Under Stone; The Dark is Rising; Greenwitch; The Grey King; Silver on the Tree; And this one by Alan Garner is brilliant: Elidor.
